“Embracing Imperfection by Mars provides a perfect mix of mid sixties beat music and early 70's rock and roll. "I Can Be Persuaded" features elements of the Kinks, the Reflection's "Romeo and Juliet" and the Beatles Rubber Soul. The album's rockers pay homage to The Easybeats, The Faces, and the Stones circa Beggars Banquet, and short acoustic interludes such as "Good Morning Mae" and "Blues for Zollo" are sandwiched in between, giving the entire disc a Beatles White Album feel. "Falling" could easily pass for a long lost Pete Townsend demo circa 1971, and perhaps just to show that they can, the band rocks out live on the final cut, "Sharp Practices.” Go to a Mars show soon and buy this record!”

“Well here it is not even January yet and I already have my favorite record of 2010...Embracing Imperfection by MARS...are you kidding me? Bomp Records fans and garage rock underground freaks, consider yourselves warned and BE ON HIGH ALERT! This guitar-driven, backbeat-laden quartet covers all the minor themes (hangovers, relationships, factory floors) with major chords, sometimes swerving in an-oh-so satisfying Sloan/'Mats-type sway. Favorite tracks? Too many to list, but "Famous Lovers" and "(I Can Be) Persuaded" is a great one-two punch for my money. Also worthy of mention are "Good Morning Mae" and "Queen Contrary" - a couple more instant classics somewhere left of the dial. In addition to formidable frontman Chris Gorham’s battle-tested vocal delivery and consistently interesting lyrical twists, their ace-in-the-hole guitar gunslinger Ammo occasionally contributes with a bluesy ballad or a Zevon-like gem..”
